We are Somaya
Somaya Community is founded by our devoted wisdom keepers based on the deep commitment of returning Cambodia to its pivotal position as an empire. Esoterically an empire is believed to be about the power of both the Sun and the Moon as vibrant life-giving forces, that reflect the necessary balance of the masculine and feminine principles, and which unleash transformative dynamic powers. The balancing of these dual energies is also seen as crucial to creating a prosperous and fulfilling existence. Somaya’s wisdom keepers believe that these ancient tools should be available to all on a quest for understanding, healing, and growth.
Vision
At Somaya Community, our vision is to change the world by empowering individuals to access their emotional freedom and personal growth through the transformative power of plant medicine and psychedelic-assisted therapy. We strive to restore the natural balance and harmony of the body and mind, inspiring individuals to become active participants in their own healing journeys. With a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and ethical practices, we aspire to be leaders in global research and development, as a part of a broader movement towards genuine healing and human development.
Mission
Our mission at Somaya Retreats is to revive and share the ancient wisdom and healing traditions of Cambodia through transformative plant medicine ceremonies, combined with the practice of Bokator and other traditional Buddhist spiritual practices. We are on a mission to create brave spaces where anyone can access their cognitive liberties. We are a smaller part of a greater whole ensuring Cambodia is a part of the global movement for the legalization of plant medicine and psychedelic assisted therapy.

Purpose
Cambodia is a country marred by genocide and post-genocidal civil war chaos, invisible bonds grip the people of Cambodia. These invisible bonds manifest themselves as mental disorders (schizophrenia, depression, PTSD etc.) addiction, domestic violence, and trauma in general. This is where Somaya’s unique healing methods become important. One session of a psychedelic treatment could be tantamount to several months or years of conventional treatment. Using plant medicines is not new but has been forgotten or co-opted by a select few we wish to see that power back into the hands of all. Somaya Community is a beacon for individuals seeking transformation and growth, we facilitate the responsible and empowering use of plant medicine and psychedelic-assisted therapy through immersive and life-changing retreat experiences. We envision a world where all individuals have access to the transformative potential of the healing potential of plant medicines, and a reintegration of the Indigenous knowledge and practices, reinvigorating cultural and spiritual heritage from ancient Khmer empire to our global community.
SOMAYA ROOTS
We draw inspiration from a traditional Cambodian way of life that appreciates the beauty of imperfection and wisdom to offer one another the gift of nurturing the soul with “rice.” As each of us goes through the healing journey we will need to reclaim resources from our traditional past and merge it with knowledge and technology of our future. In the end each of us must find the healer within, no one person or medicine can take the place of our own empowerment.
Our team of wisdom keepers honor the intercity of how roots heal at an individual and collective level. As no tree survives alone in the forest. When one tree falls ill, the rest of the tress will send food. For if one tree dies, the canopy is broken. Then all suffer the risk that comes from harsh weather and disease. With this core value we came together rooted in our belief that no one should be left to suffer alone.
